The unique game of spelling snakes and ladders
This unique spelling games is played the same way as the traditional snakes and ladders game, but with a twist! If a player lands at the bottom a ladder, they move to the top immediately and spell the word they land on. If a player lands on the head of a snake, they move to the bottom of the snake and spell the word they land on. Any player that fails to spell a word correctly must stay on that space until the word is spelt correctly. It is amazing how intently children will study a word to make sure they get it right the next time around.

How to Play the snakes and ladders spelling game by NinaLaZina
To play snakes and ladders game, you need at least one other person to play against. A maximum number of four players can take part in the game at any time. You need to put your piece on the start space before you roll the dice and count the number that shows up to move the dice. Once you move the piece, you must check and spell the word correctly. You cannot move until the word is spelt correctly. If you roll the dice and land on the head of the snake symbol, you will move your piece to the bottom of the snake. If you luckily roll the dice and count your piece to the bottom a ladder, then you move your piece to the space on top of the ladder. Children normally spell the word by looking away and another child will check the spelling on the game to see if it is right.
The winner of the snakes and ladders spelling game is the person that reaches the ‘Finish’ space on the game and spells the word correctly. Download your snakes and ladders printable game from my Etsy shop.
